LED BY DAVID CUNNINGHAM, ARCHITECT
This walk will visit a series of innovative apartment buildings in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood designed by the late 19th century architect Montrose Morris. At the time Brooklyn’s residential landscape was dominated by townhouse (brownstone) developments. The new buildings introduced the French concept of apartment dwelling, which became known as “flat living.” The walk covers about 3/4 of a mile and is family friendly with activity packets for young participants.
