On October 28, 2022 a jury of independent architects and designers convened to select the winners of the 2022 Brooklyn Design Awards. On December 5, the 9 winners were publicly announced at an Award Ceremony at 501 Union in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
The Brooklyn Design Awards program highlights the borough of Brooklyn, with its design community serving as a creative hub for innovation, and its diverse neighborhoods as a dynamic network and unique urban fabric.
Each of the 9 selected projects was granted either an award of “Excellence”, “Merit” or it received a “Commendation” reflecting the project’s design excellence, technical skill, innovation, environmental responsiveness, and/or social impact. Submitted projects had to be completed by Brooklyn Architects or located in Brooklyn. The winners range from small-scale architectural activations to large-scale urban interventions. Nearly half of the winners are projects located in Brooklyn and the other half span Montauk, the Catskills, Albany, North Carolina and the Philippines.
