AIA Brooklyn Announces 2022 Brooklyn Design Awards Winners
Brooklyn-based and Brooklyn-made Architecture and Design

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DECEMBER 6, 2022

The Brooklyn Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA Brooklyn) announced today the 9 winners of the 2022 Brooklyn Design Awards.

Each of the 9 selected projects was granted either an award of “Excellence”, “Merit” or received a “Commendation” which reflects the project’s design excellence, technical skill, innovation, environmental responsiveness, and/or social impact. Program eligibility was anchored by geography, as all projects must have been based in Brooklyn or completed by Brooklyn architects/designers. The winners range from small-scale architectural activations to large-scale urban interventions. Nearly half of the winning projects are located in Brooklyn and the other half span Montauk, the Catskills, Albany, North Carolina and the Philippines.

The Brooklyn Design Awards program highlights the borough of Brooklyn with its design community serving as a creative hub for innovation, and its diverse neighborhoods as a dynamic network and unique urban fabric.

“Brooklyn is a hotbed of culture, industry, creativity, and ingenuity,” explains Jason Boutin, the 2022 Brooklyn Design Awards Committee Chair and partner at The Brooklyn Studio. “Today, it is one of the best-known place names in the world and this program is proud to celebrate those Brooklyn architects driven by the values of the borough.”
