The mission of the AIA Brooklyn Women in Architecture (BKWIA) Committee is to identify, support and encourage the individual strengths of Women in Architecture (and related professions) and through activities and outreach, develop a network that promotes diversity, leadership and the overall well-being of its members. The vision is to ultimately have an engaged community of people who are interested in the connection and value building of women.

Some of the goals of the AIA Brooklyn Women in Architecture (BKWIA) Committee are:

  • Mentorship | Diversity: Offer lectures, Keynotes and Mentoring pertinent to Women within the industry. The BKWIA is a committee that can offer support and encouragement in your career.
  • Mindfulness | Well-being and Emotional Intelligence: Offer programs that focus on conscious awareness and healthy lifestyle routines like exercise, meditation and healthy eating.
  • Future Practice and Leadership Skills: Discussions and support on topics like Workplace Diversity, Communication for Women, Dare to Lead and Career Navigation. The AIA Brooklyn Women in Architecture Committee is a community that is here to reinforce the continuance of Women within the profession.
