The AIA Brooklyn Women in Architecture Committee advances the visibility, leadership, and success of women in architecture and allied design professions. We work to transform the industry by fostering equity and inclusion through mentorship, professional development, and community building.
Core Purpose:
- Champion women’s advancement in architecture through actionable programs and monthly initiatives
- Build a strong professional network that connects emerging talent with established leaders
- Advocate for systemic change to achieve gender parity in the profession
- Create platforms for women architects to showcase their work and contributions
- Support the development of future leaders through targeted mentorship initiatives
- Guide and support women architects in establishing and maintaining successful WBE firms
- Foster inter-chapter collaboration to create a robust support network for women architects
- Build bridges between architecture and allied fields, including engineering, construction, and project management
- Maintain an active committee of engaged professionals committed to advancing our mission
Structure:
- Monthly committee meetings to ensure continuous progress and engagement, third Monday of every month at 6:30 pm on Zoom
- Active committee membership of 14 dedicated professionals with growing interest
- Cross-disciplinary engagement with women leaders in engineering, construction management, and allied fields
- Open participation structure welcoming new members and supporters
- Regular collaboration with sister WIA chapters and the broader AEC industry for enhanced impact
