Celebrate Juneteenth with AIA Brooklyn and learn about this important African American Heritage site

Join AIA Brooklyn for an intimate tour of one of our country’s most significant black heritage sites.  Settled early in the 19th century, Weeksville is one of America’s first free black communities, and one of the few remaining pre-Civil War African American sites.

Today, the Weeksville Heritage Center preserves and maintains the site, which includes historic buildings, the Hunterfly Houses and an open grassy area. The Center also focuses on tours, arts and crafts, literary and historical preservation.
