Figment Dream Bigger Project | JinJig
Installation by Noshin Apurba, Assoc. AIA and Josette Matthew, Assoc. AIA
JinJig is a game of strategy and skill, reminiscent of our favorite childhood pastimes. It combines the nostalgic jigsaw, the 2D puzzle game, with the infamous Jenga, the structural brainteaser game. It provides hours of entertainment and merriment, set at a human scale. this game incorporates rules of both classics. players have to work together to get all the pieces connected. aptly named jinjig, this game fosters a sense of community and highlights the importance of every player on the team. it allows people of all ages a chance to communicate and piece by piece create a colorful and engaging outcome. As we approach the 2018 summer season it only means another awards season for AIA Brooklyn has come upon us. The Brooklyn + Queens Design Awards (BQDA) has returned, continuing its collaboration with the AIA Queens and AIA Bronx chapters. After deliberating nearly 100 entries, our five jurors from different disciplines and organizations in architecture have selected another year of design excellence winners.
Twenty nine projects across nineteen categories will be recognized on June 27 with the Excellence, Merit, and Chapter Awards with one of the Excellence recipients receiving this year’s Design of the Year Award. People’s choice awards voting was also deliberated throughout the month of April and over a thousand votes were cast. In addition, we will be honoring five individuals that have provided a significant amount of contribution in the profession through BQDA honor awards.
